Collecterz Makes It Easy For Collectors

Movie fans are a diverse group of people. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who just doesn’t like movies. There are those who stay on top of the entire industry and others who indulge in the occasional flick. It’s safe to say that most are like me, lovers of cinema.

It’s true, I’ve taken a film arts class and while my knowledge expanded a great deal it didn’t make me an expert. I can pick out subtle nuances where a lot of people can’t or don’t, but in the end it all boils down to how the movie made me feel and was it thought provoking. It’s purely emotional with me and my collection is evidence.

That being said, I’ve found the most amazing software to keep my collection organized. For years, I’ve wished for Microsoft Office to release Access for Macintosh to no avail. Excel is a great spreadsheet program but it became difficult to create a database easy to access and organize. Besides, inputting all the info about the movies was a daunting task. That’s where Collecterz comes in.

This program makes the process of entering movies into a database so easy it’s somewhat spooky. Go to the search screen and type in the title of the movie, choose which online database you want to query, (including IMDB and Amazon) hit enter and it retrieves all the information you could ever want for the film. Click a button and it is part of your personal movie database. Extraordinary!

That’s not all. You can change any of the information. For instance, it collects only a certain number of actors, but if you are a fan of a supporting actor not listed, it’s simple to add that person. Maybe you are aware that a film had a guest director for a few scenes. With just a few clicks and bit of typing, that guest director is added.

It cross-references everything. You can sort by title, actor, director, and genre. Arrange by run times and studio information as well as country of origin and release year. There is a section for personal information such as your rating of the movie, where you bought it, how much you paid and who you let borrow it. The things I’ve mentioned only scrape the surface. Oh! You can specify if it’s DVD or VHS.

My DVD collection is huge compared to some but a drop in the bucket compared to others. Trying to compile a database for well over a hundred movies was overwhelming. With Movie Collector, I built my personal database in just a couple of hours. The best part is, when I buy a new movie, it will be as simple as doing a search to add it. Trust me, if you have a movie collection and want it organized, Movie Collector is the software for you.

There are also programs for Music, Books, Comics, and Games.
